Professional digital
photography Sales and Printing Solutions
So you want
to know how to sell your pictures online do ya ;-) well
we have scoured the Internet looking for the best solutions
to get you in front of image buyers or to help you stream
line your current image output process. The days of
the darkroom are numbered except for the artistic few
who will continue to push the envelope, for the rest
of us selling our prints online via photo processors
can provide a stand alone seamless solution to sell
photographic images 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. Many
of these sites also offer private solutions so that
your clients can place orders directly with you, but
the public at large can not view these private images
protecting not only your images but also your clients.
If you do not
currently have a gallery to sell your images or even
display them, these picture printing solutions have
you covered! The number of products that can be sold
is huge from posters to mouse pads, which make great
gifts, but some of the sites focus on high end prints
framed, on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 and UV protected
for those images that are truely magical
There is no need to hire a webdesigner to get your images
in a sharp looking gallery, simply upload them, add
your descriptions so they are searchable, set your price
(if offered) and bang your ready to sell!
Now you can
concentrate on what you love...creating images!
We dropped the descriptions below the chart so if something
doesn't make sense just scroll down the page a bit :-)

Service
Fee: Does the print processor charge
a fee for the use of their site?
Print pricing: What is the
relative price for given products?
Quality:
Not all services are equal where this comes into play
and considerations include paper, inks, auto processing,
but regarding the over all print it comes down to your
resolution and color management. We are developing a page
on color management and resolution to further explain
what you need to look for.
Product Options: Most photographer
are interested in engagements first and for most, but
would you like a calendar with that? With many services
additional products include gift cards, coffee cups, T-shirts,
notebooks, clocks and just about anything you might think
of!
Image Protection: Once your
images are online can just anyone view them? What would
stop anyone from downloading your image? Most of the images
are poor quality for anything more than website graphics,
but some services provide more protection than others.
Just about all of the services allow private files, so
if you like you can lock your files in a private folder.
On Site Gallery (stand
alone): Once your images are uploaded
to the service do they allow you to market your work thorough
their network? Does a link from your site to the service
require the visitor to log into their service?
Color Profile: How can you
be sure what you see is what will be printed? Look for
our resolution and color guide coming soon!
Resolution Needed for Enlargements:
Some Services give specific details as to what resolution
you need and we have supplied that where available
Storage Limitations: How
much space can you use on their server, is there bandwidth
limitation for monthly traffic?
Payment for sales:
If there is a mark up how will you be paid. The comparison
below will be listed as as "DD" for direct deposit,
"C" for check and "PP" for pay pal.
Product Pricing: Who sets
the price for your products, some service are designed
more for sharing photos with family and friends then as
a solution for serious photographers. As such they do
not offer the ability to mark up prints and other products,
but other services are designed to be direct to the photographer
and you must handle the shipping and any returns yourself.
The comparison below will be listed as "P" for
services where you can markup and sell your products and
"NA" for printing only services.
Who Places the Order: If
the service is stand alone you should be able to send
your visitor from your site direct to the ordering page
where they can then order prints without your need to
enter order details. The comparison below will be listed
as "P" for photographer sets the price and"C"
for customer..
